The District believes that strong community involvement is an integral part of the crew’s service. Through Black Jack Firefighters Community Outreach, the District’s non-profit organization, our team regularly sponsors collection drives to benefit students and teachers in the Hazelwood School District. Black Jack Fire Protection District also hosts numerous events during the year that are open to residents and the community.

Annual Community Outreach Golf Tournament
The Community Outreach Golf Tournament is an annual event sponsored by the Black Jack Firefighters Community Outreach. The tournament is held in late June at Whitmoor Country Club; players can register individually or as a team. Sponsorships also are available. All proceeds benefit the organization and support the community.
School Supply Drive
Black Jack Firefighters Community Outreach hosts a school supply drive benefiting teachers and students in the Hazelwood School District. Supplies are collected and distributed throughout the district; the team also sponsors a backpack drive for students. This year, the team, in partnership with the Florissant Fire District and Spanish Lake Fire District, donated 600 backpacks to students!
Kyddie Kares Back to School Bash
As part of the Kyddie Kares Back to School Bash community event, the District’s non-profit organization donated backpacks and hosted a bounce house for the kids. Kyddie Kares is a local non-profit organization affiliated with the Kyddie Karnival Learning Academy. The back-to-school event ensures that every child in the area is ready to start the school year; children receive free haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms. Kyddie Kares also provides diapers and wipes for families.
Winter Coat Drive
Each year, the Black Jack Firefighters Community Outreach sponsors a winter coat drive in partnership with other area non-profit organizations. More details about this event will be announced in the coming months.
Annual Santa’s Sleigh Event
The District hosts its Annual Santa’s Sleigh event at the firehouse. The event is free and open to the public. Children enjoy photos with Santa, arts and crafts, and refreshments! Check back soon for updates on the 2023 event.
