Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The EMS team includes 27 paramedics and 11 EMTs. The District is an advanced life support provider, which denotes that all fire trucks carry paramedic equipment. The EMS team provides life-saving emergency care and support to all District residents.
The District contracts with Christian Hospital EMS for emergency services. However, the Black Jack Fire Protection District will offer in-house EMS services beginning in December. During emergency calls, the team transports them to the closest appropriate facility (typically Christian Hospital or DePaul Hospital).
Residents within the District are only charged for the portion of their emergency medical services (and transport) that is covered by insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare. Those living outside the jurisdiction could accrue additional costs (beyond the charges covered by their insurance). The District makes it easy to pay bills related to these services online.
