Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The EMS team includes 37 paramedics and 10 EMTs. The District is an advanced life support provider, which denotes that all fire trucks carry paramedic equipment. The EMS team provides life-saving emergency care and support to all District residents.
In December 2023 the Black Jack Fire Protection District transitioned to providing ALS ground transportation services. Two ALS ambulances operate out of our firehouses, and the third is contracted with Christian Hospital EMS out of Christian NorthEast. During emergency calls, the team transports them to the closest appropriate facility (typically Christian Hospital or DePaul Hospital).
Residents within the District are only charged for the portion of their emergency medical services (and transport) that is covered by insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare. Those living outside the jurisdiction could accrue additional costs (beyond the charges covered by their insurance). The District makes it easy to pay bills related to these services online.
